Float Valves

What is a Float Valve?
A Float Valve controls the discharge of a pipeline fluid into a small tank automatically to a top level of fluid required. The float mechanism is fitted to the small bore valve and falls on the water level to open the valve and rises on the water level to close the valve.

Equilibrium Float Valves (For larger bore pipe discharge):
Our Fig. 501 Equilibrium Ball float Valve range which is WRAS approved (Water Regulation Advisory Scheme) for potable water, can be fitted to a larger bore inlet pipe 2” (50mm) to 12” (300mm) bore to automatically control the water flow by use of the float mechanism as above and the inlet line pressure operating a pressure balancing cylinder in the valve enabling the larger bore equilibrium valve to control the water flow into reservoirs and large water storage tanks, for drinking water and sprinkler fire protection system tanks.

Equilibrium Float Valve Construction
Materials used in the construction of the valve will include:
• Body/Cover – Cast Iron to Cover BSEN 1561 EN GJL 250
– Tough black Rilsan nylon coating heat fused to body/cover
• Seat Ring/Cylinder- Gunmetal to Valve Seat BS EN 1982 CC491K
• Disc – EPDM Rubber bonded to steel reinforcing plate
• Piston Seal – EPDM Rubber
• Float – Tough black Rilsan nylon coating heat-fused to steel float

Our Range of Manufactured Globe Valves

Our Globe Valve bolted cover (bonnet) outside screw where the actuating thread of the spindle (stem) is exterior to the cover with inlet & outlet flanged supplied as a stop (screw lift) isolating valve or screw down non return (SDNR) regulating flow valve.

Globe Valve Types & our Fig. numbers:

• Globe Straight Pattern, Fig. 181,280,133
• Globe Angle 90° Pattern, Fig. 182,281,133L
• Globe Oblique 45° Pattern, Fig. BV203, BV307

Materials:
Material selection supplied to suit line application, pressure & temperature ratings as specified in international standards.

Line Media:
• Wet / Saturated Steam
• Condensate
• High Temperature Hot Water
• Medium Temperature Hot Water
• Low Temperature Hot Water
• Cold Clean

Water Operation:
Globe Valves have the most reliable form of seat & lid (disc) which together with the variety of materials available make them very suitable for difficult conditions where control & isolation is necessary or when frequent operation is required. It is also easy to maintain the seat & lid on the globe valve.

Applications:
• Boiler and main steam vents and drains
• Feedwater or feed systems
• Cold Water systems
